Man Utd could have potential problems with their midfield next summer, and it’s been claimed that they’re ready to target a long-term solution.
Both Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera will see their current deals expire at the end of the season, although in the latter’s case, United have an option to extend for a further year but that is no guarantee that it will be exercised with around eight months to go.
In the event that the midfield pair leave, it will Jose Mourinho worryingly short of options in that department and so new faces may well be needed.
One player in particular who has reportedly caught United’s attention is Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, with Don Balon, as re-reported by The Express, claiming that the La Liga outfit have been informed Man Utd are willing to meet his €80m release clause next summer.
For their part, Valencia will be desperate to keep him as they look to have finally turned a corner this season after years of struggles as they sit in second place in the league standings after 10 games and are good value for it.
In turn, the last thing that they need is to start losing some of their brighter talents, and Soler certainly falls into that category with the 20-year-old making 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring one goal and providing four assists from his midfield role.
Nevertheless, if United are indeed willing to pay his release clause, the possibility of a move to Old Trafford will surely be difficult to ignore for the youngster as Mourinho has seemingly seen something he likes in his play and believes that he can be an important figure at Man Utd moving forward if the Premier League giants are genuinely prepared to splash out €80m on him.
