One of the great lakes the whole world and perhaps, the greatest lake in Africa is Lake Tanganyika. Why is it called a great lake, you ask? Well, it is only the second biggest lake in the entire planet. And it has a length of 673 kilometers or 418 miles – the longest lake of all. Because of its length, Lake Tanganyika passes through a few islands in another African country. It touches Zambia’s Kumbula and Mutonowe Island and DRC’s Kavala, Mamba-Kayenda, Milima and Kibishie Islands.
