Yul Moldauer is an oil monkey on a basic level. There's something about having an instrument in his grasp and an issue to fathom that addresses him, a diversion he got from his dad while experiencing childhood in Colorado.
So when the weight ascends at a tumbling meet, Moldauer goes to what he calls his "tranquility zone." To arrive he takes 10-15 full breaths and gives his mind a chance to float away to a carport or an interstate some place.
The thing is, Moldauer's present auto is really solid and doesn't require a huge amount of work. Sort of like Moldauer's aerobatic.
Staked to a two-point lead heading into the finals of the U.S. titles on Saturday night, Moldauer defeated a precarious begin to hold off Oklahoma partner Allan Bower and catch the inside and out title.
