increases chances that the child will copy the correct ways of handling situations instead of resorting to aggressive actions. This theory can also relate to effects of media violence on children’s behaviors. The impacts of imitating behaviors found in children are supported from Bandura’s Bobo Doll experiment (McLeod, 2014). Children that were shown aggressive behavior with a toy before put in the same situation had mimicked aggression. Similar results occurred with children’s behavior to match after presented with non-aggressive behavior to a toy (McLeod, 2014). Elder mistreatment could be a problem that an 80 year old is facing and benefit from social learning theory approach. It has been called the Cycle of Violence Theory when related to elders and abuse by family members. The theory applies in elder mistreatment by explaining a reason for offspring to develop abusive behavior towards their parents even when they are of old age. Studies show that abused seniors often had abusive offspring that received similar violence in their childhoods. Another concept that is observed is whether the elder had abused their elderly parents in front of own children, and then the behavior was copied onto the next generation. It is an interesting study relating to Social Learning Theory
