  1. Like all Indian cricket fans, I have been fascinated by the Indian cricket team’s tour of Australia, starting with the dismal collapse in Adelaide, the astounding comeback win in Melbourne, the fighting draw in Sydney, and the truly awesome fairy-tale win in Brisbane. The series win is all the more creditable because India lost so many players along the way. Its captain and top batsman left after the first match, commendably to be with his wife for their first child. Most of India’s first team was progressively injured over the series, allowing a young and brave second line to take its place. There is something about these young players, a combination of their talent, their diversity, their discipline, and their determination, which offers a model of what India can truly be. There have been many articles celebrating this Indian team. I particularly like this piece by Mukul Kesavan.
