  1. "Zine News" Xin Yubin and the quarterfinals, who is the 'strongest on earth' Zhong Yingxia?
  2. 'How strong is Korea's quarterfinal opponent, China's top-ranked Sun Yingxia?
  3. South Korea advanced to the quarterfinals of the BNK Busan Bank World Table Tennis Championships Busan 2024 with a 3-1 victory over Brazil in the round of 16 on Nov. 21 at BEXCO Busan. They will face 'World No. 1' China, who eased past Thailand, in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. on Feb. 22. The women's team booked their ticket to Paris through the quarterfinals, but the early date with the 'Great Wall of China' was unfortunate for the women's team, who were determined to perform their best at home.
  4. The Chinese women's team is arguably the strongest in the world. They have won five consecutive women's team titles at the biennial World Table Tennis Championships (2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2022) and will be looking to make it six in a row in Busan.
  5. China's top-ranked player, world No. 1 Sun Yingxia (born in 2000), is a self-explanatory ace on the planet. She made her world debut in Chengdu in 2022, where she led the team to a gold medal with seven wins and no losses, and was the women's singles champion in Durban (individual) in 2023. It will be interesting to see how Chinese aces Shin Yubin and Jeon Ji-hee will fare against Sun Yingxia in front of their home fans. The head-to-head record is clear. Sun Yingxia has six wins against Yubin Shin and five wins against Jeon Jeon-hee. She has eight complete wins without dropping a game, which is over 70%.
  6. Sun Yingxia has also won 12 games against Japanese ace Hina Hayata. She is a player whose wins are a given, and whose losses make international news. In fact, Sun Yingxia's 1-3 (10-12, 11-2, 11-13, 6-11) loss to Aihika Mukherjee in her first group match against India at the tournament sent shockwaves through the world of table tennis and was talked about around the world.
  7. With only Sun Yingxia, the 'Impregnable', playing in her first ever World Championships in Korea, the Korean women's team will be more determined than ever as the fans in Anbang, Busan, cheer them on. Ahead of their quarterfinal clash with China on Wednesday, head coach Oh Kwang-heon said, "It's not a good draw to face China in the quarterfinals, but it's still too early to be disappointed. We will challenge them proudly in front of our home fans." Top-ranked Shin Yoo-bin also lost in the first singles against Brazil, but when asked by the on-site announcer if she was under pressure due to the high expectations in her 'home' city of Busan, she replied, "I don't feel any pressure, but I want to show a better performance to those who supported me. I want to show a better performance in the next match."
