or 1GB is necessary ?
cPanel staff:
512MB should be suitable if you are only using it to serve DNS Zones. You can use the "--force" flag when beginning the installation to bypass the memory requirements

I've been running it on 1GB RAM without issues for the past 3 years, but I guess it really depends on how many zones you will have.

Best answer...
Yes, you can run 512MB, however if you have a lot of zones and experience latency for lookup, increase your ram.

There's a trick on the cPanel forums, to allow you to install on 512Mb (or less). I used this this week to install on 1Gb - Centos 7 min. is now 2Gb!
The force option alone doesn't work.

Personally I would recommend sticking with the minimum specs. VPS’s are pretty cheap these days.
I think it’s 1GB for DNS only.
Our use 400ish M with bunches of zones
if you disable MySQL you will save Memory
Warning cPHulk wont work if you do
Checking again this morning, I'm actually running on 512MB, not 1GB, as previously stated, with approx. 60 zones.
For others, considering trying out WHM DNS only..
Not too impressed with the very limited WHM functions:
- Can't see at a glance the populated DNS records
- No root password changer
- No Terminal option for some obscure reason
- No mySQL password changer
- No upgrade to mariadb
- Very abbreviated Security functions
- No backup GUI, for system files
- No system health
Of course some of these are served by CLI but their GUI omission is poor, IMHO, almost negating the need/use of WHM in the first place. I reckon I'm better served by 3rd party slave DNS servers.
