"An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest."
- Benjamin Franklin: one of the Founding Fathers of the United States

Notice that Ben states "An investment in knowledge" not education, schooling, but KNOWLEDGE, what he is stating here in more elaborate terms is that if you have an interest, and you self-educate yourself, or go to an institution ans learn what other have learned about the subject, they ALL count as KNOWLEDGE gained.
KNOWLEDGE = POWER over one's own fate
KNOWLEDGE = CONTROL over one's own fate, and INFLUENCE on friends and family that lack the KNOWLEDGE
KNOWLEDGE = INFLUENCE on others with equates to potential secondary influence on their friends and families.
