The acceptance of lesbian, gay , bisexual and transgender ( LGBT ) in the United States vary by country. Same-sex marriage is recognized throughout Canada and in some parts of the United States and Mexico . Same-sex marriages are recognized in the Netherlands diterapkandi Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles . Several other countries have laws that allow " cohabitation " . However , there are countries that prohibit homosexual , namely Jamaica , Barbados , Guyana , and Trinidad and Tobago .
