The Chairman of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Chief Rochas Okorocha, has asked Nigerians to have faith in the APC led administration.
Okorocha vowed that leaders of the APC would not fail Nigerians and therefore pleaded for more time for them to redeem the promises they made.
He stated this in his speech during the Federal Government and PGF parley on Policy Synergy, held yesterday, in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
He said the APC should not be judged by what was going on in the polity, saying when they came to power in 2015, Nigeria was already battling with an ailing economy, insecurity, corruption and other challenges.
The Imo State governor said it was gratifying that within two years, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration had restored some sanity in the system.
“We want to appeal to Nigerians not to judge us from the past sins; we have only been in the mantle of leadership of this great country for two years. You should judge us when the mandate entrusted to us expired,” he said.
He assured Nigerians that before the expiration of their tenure, APC leaders would meet the expectations of Nigerians.
“Our party has the best governors ever produced in the history of this country- from Sokoto to Adamawa, Kebbi, Lagos, Imo, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Ogun, Osun, Lagos and others. When you visit any of our states, you will know that Nigerians did not make mistake electing us to direct their affairs,” he said.
He bemoaned agitation by people from some sections of the country, who were calling for secession.
“We are one united country and Nigeria will always remain indivisible; we don’t know who is Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo. Our determination is to stamp out hunger and bring democratic dividend to the citizens,” he said.
