MONTREAL — Boxing champion Jean Pascal contacted an investigator into an alleged sexual assault reported at his Lorraine home over the weekend and said he would cooperate in the investigation, Constable Jonathan Germain of the Thérèse-De Blainville police force said early Monday.
“He called one of our investigators Sunday evening,” Germain said. “He was very cooperative.”
Pascal “is being considered an important witness, like each of the other people who were present,” Germain added.
Pascal is expected to return to Montreal from California this week. He had left on Sunday for Los Angeles on a trip that had been previously planned. Germain said he could not provide an exact day of return.
Sgt. Martin Charron, another spokesperson for the municipal force about 30 kilometres north of Montreal, had said Sunday that about 10 people were at Pascal’s home late Saturday or early Sunday.
A 25-year-old woman told police about 5:30 a.m. Sunday that she had been sexually assaulted at the home.
Investigators conducted a search of Pascal’s home Sunday, between 7 p.m. and about 9:30 p.m., Germain said.
