Earn money with Gomez Peer
In this first article of the series "Ways generate passive income online", I will show you how you can use your computer, cpu power or internet connection to earn money online.
You only need to invest time to setup the accounts or software and then you'll earn money without further actions needed.
In this article, I'll show you a distributed computing project named Gomez Peer.
This is a program that uses your internet connection to check websites for their online status. Customers of Gomez Peer are for example Audi, Facebook or Barclays.
As a client, you will need to install a software on your computer. That software receives tasks from the gomez peer regurarly and then your computer does website performance checks.
1) Requirements
- Active internet connection (any connection speed, even 56k!)
- Computer with at least Pentium III 500 MHz, Windows XP, 128 MB RAM, 40 MB HDD
- PayPal account for payouts
2) Steps
Follow these steps to register an account and start earning with your computer on Gomez Peer.
1) Goto the following website: GomezPeer.
2) Enter your credentials and select PayPal for your preferred payment method.
3) Submit your registration. You will now receive a confirmation e-mail.
4) Login to Gomez Peer and download the software here or click on "Download PEER software" on top of the page.
5) Download and install the software by following the described steps.
6) The software will start now automatically on each windows startup. Enter your login data now. The login will be saved for each further start of Gomez Peer.
7) A dark-blue icon will now show up on your tray bar. Double-click it to check your earnings or login to the Gomez Peer website.
8) Install the software by repeating the steps 5-7 on each computer that is available to you to increase your income.
3) Theoretical earnings
3a) Daily bonus
When you let the software run at least 12 hours a day, you will get a extra bonus of 0.08$ for that day. If you let the software run on multiple systems, the times will be accumulated for the bonus. For example, if computer a was online for 8 hours and computer b was online for 4 hours a day, you will get the daily bonus because both togehter will apply the needed 12 hours.
3b) Earning for processing time
For each minute your computer is computing for Gomez Peer, you will get credited. The amount of the payment depends on the country you live. You can check the actual payment rates here.
3c) Payments are proceeded only to active accounts
You only get payments to your paypal account in case your account was set to active. Gomez Peer upgrades about 100-500 pending accounts every two weeks so that your chance to get activated is pretty high. You will just need to let the software run as long as possible to increase your chance. Once your account was set to active, it won't turn back to pending. Earnings will be proceeded in case you hit $5.00 on your account. If you don't have enough on your account, the earnings will be accumulated to the next month.
4) Concrete earnings
To calculate the concrete earnings, I will assume the following circumstances:
- You will get the daily bonus each day of the month
- Processing time is about 60 mins a day (pretty realistic estimate)
- You live in a country with higher payment rates (e.g. Germany or UK) with $0.001000002 per processing minute
4a) Daily earnings
- Daily bonus: $0.08
- Processing time: 60 min * $0.001000002/min = $0.06
Your daily earning will be: ~ $0.14
4b) Monthly earnings
Your monthly earning will be: 31 days * $0.14 = $4.34
