  1. Head of the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) Thomas Jamaladin called for all the tourists to be careful while enjoying the Total Solar Eclipse (GMT).
  2. The reason is, when the moon moved over the sun, the sky will gradually become darker. This is the most dangerous because the human eye can see the sun directly.
  3. Thomas recommends that people prepare special glasses to avoid blindness. But when the position of the sun was covered in perfectly, even tourists are advised to remove the glasses to see the beauty of the corona.

  5. "If it appears corona instead must be removed if still wear glasses because it'll actually can not enjoy the beauty of the corona," said Thomas as found in Thamrin, Jakarta, yesterday.
  6. Thomas asserted, the glasses are worn not just any glasses and must be equipped with special filters. In addition, it is forbidden also use ordinary sunglasses.
  7. "When the sun is not yet all covered not seen without special glasses because the sun rays are still radiating strong that it can damage the retina of the eye. If it was just a quick look does nothing, then look elsewhere," said Thomas.
  8. However, society must remain vigilant, GMT incident only occurred for 2-3 minutes. The rest months will shift back round the sun from west to east. After that, wear special glasses to the sun returned back to normal.
  9. "The bright sun disc that will dazzle once when pupils were dilated and it can damage the retina of the eye," said Thomas.
  10. Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya added that all public and tourists in the area crossing GMT has prepared the special glasses. He said that Kemenpar has prepared glasses, but can not be distributed for free to all travelers in 12 provinces throughout Indonesia.
  11. "We'll help share but could not get it all. If the 5 million tourists we love free of all there is no budget. The glasses cost Rp 25 thousand," said Arief.
  12. In addition to special glasses, the public should also choose a strategic place while watching GMT such as in the field and beach. So that it can freely see the eclipse unobstructed trees or other tall objects.
