  1. Blogging is an attractive way to make money because it affords the flexibility of working from home and of course working on a personal schedule.
  2. Some bloggers report an income running into the thousands per month, so it is no wonder that there is immense interest on the topic of blogging for money. Despite the piqued levels of interest there still seems to be some confusion surrounding how this money is made. The following are some of the ways that top bloggers use to make money from their blogging efforts.
  3. Bloggers Make Money From Advertising
  4. The main way that bloggers get income streams from their blog is by using different forms of advertising. A blog can generate income from pay-per-click advertising programs such as Google Adsense and Chikita. It can also sell ad space directly to sponsors, which usually means they keep more of the advertising revenue. Bloggers can also join affiliate programs such as Clickbank to promote products or services that are inline with their niche.
  5. Some Bloggers Join Blogging Networks
  6. Blogging networks bring together a number of established blogs into a large community. They pay each blogger a share of the advertising revenue generated from their posts, so essentially the blogger hands over the work of marketing and advertising the blog to the network in exchange for giving up a share of the potential advertising revenue.
  7. Bloggers Sometimes Sell Merchandise to Make Money
  8. Some bloggers have successfully become personal brands and thus have been able to market products to loyal readers. Some examples of this are e-books and e-courses run by the blogger in question. Darren Rouse of Problogger is a great example of this at work.
  9. Bloggers Can Get Paid for Job Boards
  10. Some blogs incorporate the use of job boards which offers their readers another dimension of service. The blogger makes money from selling advertising space to niche employers who want to reach the blog’s audience. The blog readers benefit from the convenience of getting this information, the employer benefits from getting a cost effective way of speaking directly to a targeted audience and the blogger makes some money.
  11. Some Bloggers Collect Money from Subscriptions
  12. Some bloggers have been able to transform blogs into a paid subscription service. To get away with this though the blog’s content has to be extremely top of the line and the readers must be eager to keep getting the information. Often a blogger must transition to this paid approach after building a loyal readership, so this is not something that can be done right away.
  13. There are several different ways to make money from blogging but it is important to remember that profitable blogging takes time and a lot of effort. Blogging is not a way to get rich quickly.
