Artificial rain is produced by spraying clouds with substances like Silver Iodide
(costly) or cheaper ones like solid carbon dioxide (dry ice) or even finely
powdered Sodium Chloride. The process is called seeding. Often there are
clouds, but no rain.
• Cloud seeding is a form of weather modification, a way of changing the amount
or type of precipitation that falls from clouds, by dispersing substances into the
air that serve as cloud condensation or ice nuclei, which alter the microphysical
processes within the cloud
Instructions:
• The students must either do research work or chart
work on artificial rain in UAE.
• The students’ work must reflect benefits of artificial
rain and cloud seeding. The project should highlight
effects of artificial rain on the environment of UAE
and adaptation of desert organisms.
• The project should follow scientific methodology
and sequencing.
• The chart work should be well labelled and
thoroughly illustrated. Good diagrams should be
included in the chart work.
• Appropraite references must be written.
