Well, to start everything we have Naruto, a boy who lives in the village of the leaf and wants to be the hokage (head of the village), but he sucks at school and is disrespected by everyone. The only one who cares for him is Professor Iruka, whose importance grows and decreases according to the author's convenience, and who tries to make Naruto go the right way. After a fight with a naughty teacher who tried to steal a scroll and blame the kid, Iruka is saved by Naruto and passes him to the genin level (the lowest level of ninjas, but still a ninja, which is better than he was, which was nothing) and Naruto also finds out that people discriminated against him because inside him is the beast that almost destroyed the village years ago and killed the fourth hokage, considered the greatest of all.
After that Naruto makes friends. Konohamaru, the grandson of the current hokage who became his big fan, Sakura, the girl he has always been in love with, Sasuke, the last of a clan that consisted of the best ninjas and a lot of others who appear a lot in this part, but who will disappear forever over time.
Naruto ends up forming a team with Sasuke and Sakura who is trained by Kakashi, the ninja who copies everything. Kakashi is famous for never accepting teams after the magic test he applies, but obviously he accepts this one or the manga would have ended here. Together they form team 7 and go out to do basic missions like helping old women cross forests and etc. In one of these, they end up on a mission involving a criminal named Zabuza and his protégé Haku who want to kill the old man that Team Seven is guiding so that he does not build a bridge that brings the economy back to a village. Zabuza and Haku give a chorus to the seven team that is forced to train and understand the concept of camaraderie and open beating,
