Steam banned NFT games and cryptocurrency exchange projects
Steam has banned developers from posting updates to the service and distributing new applications built on blockchain technology that issue cryptocurrencies or non-fungible tokens (NFT), or allow them to be exchanged.
Steam has not previously permitted the use of in-game items in titles that may have real value. However, CS: GO skins and hats for Team Fortress 2 have been popular among service users for a long time.
Valve believes that the use of such technologies can create a gray market for virtual goods that have real monetary value, and users do not need this, since they will only lose out due to the large number of fraudulent schemes on the Internet, which are based on various blockchain assets.
