This non-fiction book analyzes the the rise of communism in China, its gradual transition to capitalism, and China's hopeful future.

Michael and Alex The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho continues to change the lives of its readers forever. And Kipling is not just a master of description — he is a master story-teller. Ever thought that if you packed every book you wanted to take along, your books would need their own suitcase? And if people are putting together anthologies on modern poetry, we're saying Scotland has a great literary tradition here that's being skipped over and a lot of poetry can be included in that. Together, they head into the mountains of Nepal on an ambitious trek but Mark is doomed from the start and embarks upon one of the longest survival journeys I have ever heard of… A rollercoaster ride of amusing cultural observations along the hippie trail, pure survival grit and living the nomad dream.   7. I have very few hobbies best books to read while traveling reading. In fact, I continually tell myself, 'you should have more hobbies,' but then I remember how much I love reading and I'm all: eh, no. The point being: I try to read 100 books a year, which really isn't that impressive if you keep in mind that a I don't have kids and b I don't blowdry my hair. With that being said, here are my favorite books I read in 2018 that you should check out in 2019 — because I'm not a proponent that you necessarily need to only read new books published in the same year. Of interest, the companies offering ping-pong tables and free snacks, rather than anything resembling morale or job security: Amazon, Uber, Netflix about their cutthroat teamnotfamily culture, by the way ; the ones who get it right: Basecamp, ManagedbyQ, Patagonia, among others. The writing is superb, but. Or maybe it gets better after year one. Kittens swallow fishhooks and get shot in the head. This is him at his most bizarre. This is him at his most pessimistic. This is him at his most observant. Well, unless you want to read by Atul Gawande. Short answer: far better than we do. It could easily be creepy Gillian Flynn fiction. It all happened, which makes the book that much more nuts. I wept openly on a flight to Chicago while reading this in one sitting. Oh, and did I mention his mom has brain cancer. I love his weird siblings. I love his overuse of expletives. Mental illness is so, so hard — and not just for the person who has it. It keeps bloody going on. I mean that in a good way, of course. I barely remember it now. Read everything Caitlin has written. This short story collection is devourable. This is just good fiction, plain and simple. They talk like we really talk. Also, I stalked the author emmastraub on Instagram and turns out she co-owns a cool indie bookstore in Brooklyn called booksaremagicbk. If you have a beach vaca coming up or want something light, fun, and digestable, this is it. She writes brain fiction — in the sense that you have to use yours.
