"Faced with a shortage of U.S. Navy ships, the Marine Corps is exploring a plan to deploy its forces aboard foreign vessels to ensure they can respond quickly to global crises around Europe and western Africa.
The U.S. Navy has 30 amphibious ships but says it needs 38 to fulfill war fighting requirements. It won't reach that level until 2028 because of budget constraints, according to the Navy."
Congratulations America, we are giving so much money to GIB ME DATS across the country, that we have no money to fund a fully capable standing Navy.
Nothing new though. Readiness projections said we needed about 700 F-22s to replace the FORTY YEAR OLD F-16 and F-15s, but that got slashed to to just 187. So the bulk of our air superiority operations are still being carried out 40 year old planes that get the shit kicked out of them by India in war games.
We have been slashing and burning our military for a while now, and we are going to feel the consequences if shit ever gets real.
