SECTION A
SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION
This question carries 10 marks.
TIPS ON ANSWERING SECTION A:
1. Study the situation in the picture carefully.
2. Look for clues in the picture.
3. The words are given to give pupils an idea on what to write.
4. Write five sentences using the ten words given.
5. Pupils can add in their own words and phrases.
6. Make a variety of sentences and make them creative and interesting.
7. Use the same tenses throughout.
8. Do not change the tenses halfway through your sentences.
9. Check your grammar, punctuation and spelling.
10. Write neatly and clearly.
SECTION B
INFORMATION TRANSFER
This question carries 15 marks.
TIPS ON ANSWERING SECTION B
1. Study the given visual text carefully.
2. Part A carries 10 marks and Part B carries 5 marks.
3. A stimulus is given in the form of a notice, advertisement, poster, menu, timetable, leaflet or brochure.
4. For Part A, pupils have to complete a table with information from the stimulus given.
5. Make sure the pupils fill in the blanks.
6. Ask pupils to check spelling of words transferred, capital letters and punctuation.
7. For Part B, pupils have to make a choice.
8. Make a choice and write it clearly in the space given.
9. Give reasons for the choice.
10. Check your answers for correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
11. Write neatly and clearly.
