  19. I found that a power conditioner really only helps get rid of the little bit of hum you may get from bad wiring in the place or florescent bulbs. Otherwise it's a good piece of hardware to have incase of a surge spike or something like that. It'll blow the fuse on the unit itself before getting to whatever is connected (hopefully).

  40. Years back I bought one of the cheaper Furmans for around $100. Never had any issues. We practice in a noisy jam space (wiring) and it doesn't help clean any of that noise up as a noise gate would. But, my unit only has a RED/GREEN LED for "bad/good" power. I need to sell it and get one with an actual digital readout. Our bassist has one of those and it says the power is just a tad over 110v in the room.....

  57. I've been looking at getting one, and have been reading very mixed reports about them. Most of the people over at Gearslutz seem to think that they're just expensive surge protectors. But I have a Digi 003(they are very sensitive to voltage changes) which rarely works at home(connection errors, all the LEDs light up etc.) but worked flawlessly the week I had a Furman between it and the wall socket. Make of that what you want, I'm getting one If you have bad power it's worth it in the long run, your more expensive gear will last longer.

  68. Last night at practice was the first time I've seen a power conditioner give a "warning".
  69. Apparently someone had the washing machine running and I noticed the lights slightly dimming and brightening in the room. Looked at our bassist who was pointing at his LEDs on his power conditioner and it was in the yellow, reading like around 100 instead of 120. Then - POOF - tripped breaker.
  70. Also, about a month or 2 ago, the other guitarists Recto just POOFED out. He doesn't own a power conditioner. I think I was more worried than he was over it. I was afraid he fried his OT. It ended up just being his fuse, but that right there would be enough to get me to buy a power conditioner. But then again, this is the same guy who refuses to get an OD pedal to help his saggy ass Recto out....

  103. You'd do fine with a good UPS dude. Maybe add an extra surge protector and a voltage stabilizer if you're not satisfied.
  104. Edit:
  105. Wrong sub-forum btw

  135. For this you need a power regulator. They'll keep your voltage between +/- 5V
  136. Little expensive. Furmans around $500

  151. I've had one of the Furman conditioners for a while and it seems to basically just function as an expensive surge protector. You need something that regulates the voltage if you want any audible benefits methinks.
