Keep the Node documentation open so you can see what all the different methods do when he goes over them in the course especially if you're new to it. I found that I had to look at documentation for a lot of things to deepen my understanding. Depending on your level of existing knowledge, there will be a lot thrown at you pretty early on but the instructor scaffolds pretty well in my opinion. On a side note - I had a brief look at the free Net Ninja series on YouTube for Node and it also looked really good too. Let me know what you think of them. I would google around and i feel like i have come really far just doing that, but something about having a more structure class does call to me. Might as well, give it a try right?.
