  1. I did a major update on my potting soil.
  2. I recently started talking to a fellow co-worker who is a cactus expert. He told me I needed to completely re-do my cacti potting mix.
  3. Previously I was using peat moss as a base, with lots of perlite and dolomitic lime.
  4. Now I'm using a small amount of peat moss, with a lot of lava sand, a good bit of green sand; and then some perlite, dolomitized lime, blood meal, and worm castings to top it off.
  5. Though the major is the lava sand.
  6. It is much more coarse and should drain a whole lot faster now without retaining it's water.
  7. I'm excited to see if there is improved growth this year!
