With a lead actor who, even if nobody else did, understood the assignment, Hypnotic Yesmovies manages to land almost all of its ridiculous twists and turns. Even though the conclusion is a little too corny, the sci-fi concept is actually really strong. On the other hand, after a few recent outings that had me falling off the train, Hypnotic managed to restore my faith in the everyone-is-a-dad trend. Simply put, it ought to have been conceived of more along the lines of a comedy than a thriller. That slight change would have given the movie more solid ground to stand on and highlighted all of the other great aspects, even if they were dulled.
