The La Grande Soufrière is one of the tourist destinations in Guadeloupe and it is a composite volcano. A composite volcano is a volcano with many layers of lava, ash, pumice and tephra – that’s La Grande Soufrière. This volcano is the tallest peak in the Lesser Antilles and it measures at 1,467 meters. The last eruption of this volcano was in 1976 but it did not create damage at all. It is the 17th isolated peak of North America.
