Choose a type of flower to make. This can be any type of flower, but if you’re a beginner at sewing, it's recommended that you pick an easy flower to make, such as a daisy. The type of your flower can also impact the color of your fabric because certain flowers are certain colors, though you may choose to deviate from the flower's typical colors if you wish. A few common flower colors are pink, red, white, yellow, orange, blue, and purple.
Cut petals out of your piece of fabric. The size and shape of the petals will be different depending on what kind of flower you are chosen to make. For example, the flower petals for a daisy will look different than flower petal on a windflower or a hibiscus. While it doesn't have to be perfect, try to make the petals the same size, too, unless the type of flower you choose has different sized petals.
Sew your petals together. You can use most stitches to sew together your petals. Try to match the color of the string or yarn with the color of your petals as closely as you can to make them match. You can also stitch on any other small details unique to the type of flower you chose, such as other patterns or embellishments.
Cut out some leaves. Try experimenting with different sizes, shapes, and shades of green to get a nice variety. You can also choose to make the leaves look like the leaves of the flower you chose if you wish. If you want to make the middle part of the leaf, sew a lighter color green than the color of the leaf right down the middle of the leaf.
Attach the leaves to the flower. You can do this by either stitching or gluing the leaves onto the bottom of the flower. Make sure that the leaves peek out from under the flower enough so that you can see them.
Try to not make the leaves be attached symmetrically, as true flowers have leaves in various spots and positions, and attaching them asymmetrically can add a unique touch.
