  3. Notice in the spruce tree example that the middle of the depth of field stays nicely centered on the focused-on subject as the aperture narrows. Your review has me convinced this is the lens for me and I will get it eventually, once i've aquired other hardware on my long list. It is flocked inside to prevent stray light from bouncing around and does a good job of protecting everything without being too large.
  4. Using this lens in this matter instantly gives your images that extra something. It returned blurry images at f 3. No other current 50mm lens has such a large aperture, and this is at least one claim to fame for the Canon 50L.
  5. Senior tech Jim Tanner wrote up the test results for each lens on a comparative basis, with charts and graphs showing how each lens did compared to the others in the test. This has come in quite handy when photographing concerts with extremely dark venues where I needed the super wide aperture. From the moment I clicked the first shot its been love. I have read and understand the information above, and wish to download the designated software. As standard it clicks as it turns, but I believe it can be de-clicked at a service centre if preferred. This thing is a beast. A common problem with any large aperture lens is that the focus actually shifts for the center point when you stop down. I use this on a 5dmk2, 5d, 1dmk3, and 1dmk4 Breathe Your Passion with Vanessa Joy Ready to dive into some wedding video?

  7. It delivers the optical goods in every regard with crisp details into the corners, minimal distortion, and very shallow depth-of-field effects with lovely rendering. Both share the same 50mm focal length for standard coverage and the same fast f1. That said, it does have the benefit of allowing you to customise the direction of the focusing ring and whether it varies with rotation speed or is linked to the rotation degree. As standard it clicks as it turns, but I believe it can be de-clicked at a service centre if preferred. Limiting the range to ignore distances between 40 and 80cm can certainly reduce hunting and accelerate the overall response. Above: Registered members of Vimeo only. In particular how a lens renders blurred specular highlights or lights can become something of an obsession for many optical enthusiasts. This effect remains at the brightest aperture values, but is virtually eliminated by closing the aperture to around f2. Look really closely at the shapes of the blobs as the aperture gradually closes and you may notice very minor differences due to their respective aperture blades.
