Bitcoin's third halving is just a few days away. Scheduled for May 12, the event will cut the mining block's rewards in half from 12.5 to 6.25 bitcoins.
The annual inflation rate of the BTC network will be reduced from around 3.6% to 1.8%, which represents a notable range, as it places BTC inflation well below the defined target of 4% for Brazil in 2020 , and that of the Fed, the American central bank, of 2% per year.
Historically, Bitcoin halving events, which have occurred twice in the past 11 years, have been followed by a significant increase in the price of the encrypted asset.
The first halving took place in late 2012 and bitcoin appreciated 9,200%; the second halving, from September 2016, saw Bitcoin appreciate 2,900% to reach its historic record of $ 18,000, 15 months after the second halving.
