  2. The Water Wheels of Hama are also called the Norias of Hama. It is one of the 100 Wonders in Syria and a frequently visited tourist attraction in Syria. The origin of these norias cannot be ascertained as to when it was really constructed but a painting was found which dated back to 469 AD and the water wheels were drawn there. So, it most probably existed even before the 5th century. Today, there are seventeen water wheels left but they are not active anymore.
