  1. A shot Louisville, Ky., cop sparked a manhunt for his assailant late Saturday, authorities said.
  2. The cop’s beat partner took wounded Louisville Officer Kyle Carrol to a nearby hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance, police said.
  3. Authorities said Carrol recognized wanted shooting suspect Jacquan Crowley from a previous arrest during his patrol and turned his cruiser around to confront the 23-year-old.
  4. “As he drove past, the man turned away,” said Louisville police Chief Steve Conrad said at a media briefing. “The officer believed he was trying to hide his identity.”
  5. Crowley fled and Carrol gave chase on foot, jumping a fence when the suspect fired a shot and struck the 1-year veteran of the Louisville force in the chest. Crowley is expected to recover after his bulletproof vest thwarted the gun attack.
  6. “He is alert and he is takling to us,” Conrad added. “We are very hopeful of his recovery.”
  7. Meanwhile, Crowley is considered armed, dangerous and on the loose, authorities added.
