Since she did not have an email address, I created one for her. Went into the Itunes store and created her an account no card set in the itunes account her new email address. After I entered in her email address, creation of password, birthday information, I received an message stating that she did not meet the minimum requirements to create an account. Since you can authorize up to 5 computers with your own account information, you can set up your child's computer with your own account information not sure I would do this for a neice. I did this with my 11 year old's laptop. There, you can turn off the iTunes Store as well as set up a password so he or she cannot undo the changes you just made.
