You made a thread saying that the website has great backlinks, but when someone said he has a list, you asked to send them to you. It means you made a topic about a website, which you had no idea what kind of links they had.

Excited by the volume of backlinks, huh? Quality wins over quantity, mate! 50 quality links can do more damage to your competition than 5000 links from crappy, no-name sites.

So you are saying backlink count corresponds to good backlinks. That used to be true in the past when quantity dominated the quality of backlinks.
Today unless there is quality, quantity doesn't add any value to the link profile.
And after checking your website in OP I didn't find anything special in their link profile.
My personal opinion either you are misinformed about how backlinks work today OR you are trying to promote that site you mention in your OP.

Before coping anyone's link strategy you should check if the website ranks. If it does, ask yourself if it's short or long term strategy. If your goal is the same as theirs go for it and do the same.
