New Mobile Payment Technology, Isis Mobile Wallet, Coming in July
Welcome Kits Arriving By June 30 to Help You Get Ready
Next month, SUBWAY® restaurants in the US will begin accepting payments from Isis Wallet, an exciting mobile technology that lets your customers pay using their smartphones.* As one of the first two quick-serve restaurant (QSR) brands to adopt Isis Wallet in the US, we are expecting this to bring the SUBWAY® brand positive media attention and create enthusiasm among consumers. More than 11,000 SubwayPOS® and Sub Shop/2000 locations are already setup to receive Isis Wallet payments through the new VeriFone terminals, and more than 7,000 of those locations are accepting contactless credit card transactions.
What Does Isis Wallet Mean for You?
The Isis Wallet app lets customers “tap and pay” using their smartphones. When a customer holds their smartphone above the VeriFone VX820 contactless payment terminal, payment card information is wirelessly transmitted using near-field communications (NFC). There are no additional costs to you for mobile transactions, which are linked automatically to your existing Bank of America merchant processing account. This new payment method:
Offers your on-the-go customers a faster, more convenient way to pay
Attracts existing Isis Wallet users to our restaurants
Reduces your customers’ time in line, helping with thru-put
Needs no additional accounts or special handling
What Do You Need to Do Now?
Setup and training is simple and straightforward. The Isis Wallet Welcome Kit is shipping to restaurants now, and includes everything you need to prepare your location(s), including the Isis Wallet National Launch Playbook, POP materials and bag stuffers. The Playbook and other support and training resources are available on the Isis Wallet page.
To help you get setup faster, the FWH Technology Team has begun updating the SUBWAY® Payment Manager (SPM) on each POS system automatically to enable contactless payments (this update takes only minutes, and does not interfere with your business). Your Coordinator will notify you when your restaurant is enabled for contactless payments. Once you receive notification, display your Isis Wallet Door Lug-on along the bottom of your Business Hours Sign, and begin distributing the bag stuffers to alert customers that you can now accept this payment option.
Important Details on SPM and Isis Wallet Compliance
Due to the current “Code Yellow” event concerning POS systems, do not make any changes to SPM manually until you receive notification that your restaurant is on the “cleared” list. Although the Playbook states a July 1 compliance date, compliance requirements around the Isis Wallet payment method (and NFC-enabled/contactless payments) are temporarily suspended until further notice. A new compliance date will be announced at a later time.
For general questions about Isis Wallet, contact SUBWAY® App and Isis Product Owner Tiffany Hamilton or post your question on the SubwayPOS® Discussion Board. If you have technical questions, contact the FWH Technology Support Center at techsupport@subway.com.
*Applies only to locations using SubwayPOS® or Sub Shop/2000™ software.
