Me too found the variations in impressions. As said by Barry, unknown Google algorithm update rolling out from January 2019.

Yup my sites have been fluctuating lately. Not so much for the better. I normally do not get too worried about some change with Google. It usually levels out. Google still does not pick up on non-secure sites with lousy on-site SEO. I have found that old domains tend to stay ranked well no matter how lousy the sites SEO is.

I confirm. The only sites that have moved to the top 10 in my industry are the old ones (more than 10 years).
I think Domain Authority is the major priority now onwards.
DA isn't part of any search engine algorithm, and in reality represents a small fraction of the internet users that have the moz toolbar installed, compared to those that do not use the tool bar. Therefor, it's value is limited only to those that want to compare a small number of Moz-monitored sites on the internet, and/or those that are taken in by the appeal Moz so graciously offers.
