Grand Theft Auto has turned out to have an unexpectedly positive use
Open world games like Grand Theft Auto V are being used to train the artificial intelligence in self-driving cars. Which apparently is not as dangerous or crazy an idea as it sounds.
You’ve probably heard of prototype cars driving around on motorways and other main roads, in order to get enough data to be able to react in any given situation.
But apparently analysing smaller streets and urban areas is more difficult, because of unmarked lanes and more unexpected obstacles, such as cyclists or kids running across the road.
