  1. How to set up a managed wordpress hosting
  2. I just launched a web hosting business 3 months ago and I have a shared reseller hosting plan with one of the big boys in the industry. However, a new client is requesting for a managed WordPress hosting service on our platform, I don't know if that will be possible on the plan I have currently and if yes/no, how do I set up a managed WordPress hosting on my platform?

  15. Thanks y'all
  16. Its just a buzz word a lot of hosting providers use now a days.
  17. To provide a proper managed hosting environment you need a deep understanding of the software, do you have any web dev experience or any developers on staff?
  18. You really will need some system admins employed at some stage as well, shared hosting will only get you so far.

  26. Very well said.

  28. What's funny, many managed "WordPress hosts" forget to cover the development side which makes it easier to track errors and have an understanding of the software, but in this case its the reverse, and having a system admin that covers everything else is key. The quality of service is different when you go from a Shared cPanel environment and plugins for speed and security, to dropping any panels, and building an environment where speed and security is the focused on many steps before a plugin.
  29. All valid points in this thread. I would recommend asking the client specifically what type of "management" service he wants and then determine from there if it is something you can provide to him (obviously for a higher price) or not. For some people, management just means auto-updates or completing adhoc requests. For others, management may mean regular website tuning, proactive security audits, etc.

  31. i agree with @WHB-Mike you ask your client what they actually need and what management and support they requied or looking for.

  33. Vps|Dedicated Server [USA]
  34. I also agree with Mike, you should try to get more information on the requirements this client has.
  35. If you can not put him in a shared hosting, you could place him on his own vps server and still use a control panel to manage this server (cpanel, plesk or whatever panel you like).
  36. This would not require changing your current infraestructure, it would only add a new server. If the client is worth it, it is not that much trouble to get a vps up and running for him (with or without a panel).

  39. You need to know the setup for your shared reseller hosting and mostly, this is not configured properly for WP. There is also some adjustment that you need to do on WP side.
  40. As others have mentioned already, it will depend on your client's requirements too.
