The Italian coastguard on Tuesday said that it has rescued about 4,000 migrants in two days. As many as 2,154 migrants were rescued in the Strait of Sicily between Italy and north Africa on Tuesday, and 1,850 were rescued on Monday. A total 25 rescue operations were conducted by the Italian navy, a Greek cargo ship, and an EU vessel.
