  9. He sent a text asking what I was up to on the weekend that he was away and I told him I was playing board games at a friend’s place (Lewy’s to be precise). We bantered back and forth about which games we were good at, an it ended in a challenge: the loser of Trivial Pursuit would pay for dinner and cocktails.
  10. So the date was set. Two weeks in advance. They crawled along. Despite having plenty to keep me occupied, including Goose’s magnificent birthday party at Luna Park, I found myself thinking about him more often than I care to admit.
  11. He was due to return to Brisbane Sunday night, and we were due to have our Trivial Pursuit showdown the following Saturday (agreeing that it’s always more fun over a few drinks). But I wanted to see him sooner. I didn’t want to wait for him to ask and didn’t like my chances of that happening anyway. He was playing it pretty cool.
  12. So I made a bold move and suggested a mid-week dinner. He quickly accepted and we decided to have a wine at his place then head to Bulimba to see what we could find.
  13. He picked me up from my house and took me back to his. It was clean, and had a deck with views over the Gabba. We chatted and drank a bottle of red between us before deciding it was time to search for food. Reaching Bulimba we wandered into a cocktail bar where he had another glass of red and I had a Long Island Iced Tea. We chatted, we made fun of the bartender (who looked like Jean Girrard out of Talladega Nights), he made fun of my iPhone playlists, and we flirted up a storm.
  14. We decided we really needed food after so much drinking, and went to a Mexican restaurant. Dinner was lovely and the chat was even better. While I was distracted by my Margarita he even snuck up and paid for dinner. Then apologized if he was being old fashioned. Sigh! So cute.
  15. We went back to his place and I made him put on some music, given that he had been so judgemental of my playlists. He chose Kasabian. Great choice. And we started making out. Like teenagers. I really liked him and I liked kissing him even more.
  16. We moved to his bedroom to ‘be under a fan’ (nice excuse) and continued emphatically. He told me I could stay over when I started to get sleepy but I said I needed to work the next day and called a cab at around midnight.
  17. The next day I woke up with pash rash and a bruised groin from all the grinding. And I was smiling.
