  1. Should I Move Away from WHM / CPanel?
  2. So I have been using either a VPS or dedicated running WHM / Cpanel over many years. I just stumbled onto something called ********* from other developers. Looks like many people are moving to cloud hosting and looks like is a platform that allows less technical admins to host websites through other cloud providers like Linode,

  14. Vultr, Digital Ocean, Amazon and Google. This seems like a more cost effective way to host websites (mostly Wordpress). Does this mean I can move away from WHM / Cpanel if I go through *********? Would probably get the 8GB + 4 CORE option that they have. Will run about 10 websites with medium traffic.
  15. Anyone leave WHM and moved to *********? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
  16. From what I have seen the cloud-based deployment platforms offer a lesser level of control over the infrastructure than cPanel/WHM and both platforms have similar cost as you need to purchase the control panel and the hardware .Its just that in cPanel the deployment software runs on the server itself where the applications are deployed to.
  17. In short you can install cPanel on Linode, Vultr, Digital Ocean, Amazon and Google or use a cloud based control panel to deploy apps to Linode, Vultr, Digital Ocean, Amazon and Google
  18. For me personally, the cPanel option gives me more control over the infra

  23. Many move to cloud infrastructure and will install cpanel there as well as cpanel is actually helping clients to manage servers by thier own and almost all things will have an option in that.
  24. If you are a cpanel user, then it will be very difficult to setup a non control panel server and then get it managed. Also adding a new site setting up new account, every thing needs to be handled manually.
  25. As per your post, you have only 10 sites with medium traffic and since you are looking for those cloud you mentioned, I guess you can start from basic one as well and get it upgraded without much down time to higher plans if only needed. I will even suggest to start with a 2 GB or 4 GB plan and get the upgrade only and only if needed.

  30. Besides features, stability, and aptitude, there are other things that make cPanel great and better. It's how they're willing to work with all of us. Their staff is really nice, reachable, and approachable. That makes a big difference. I can name at least three people at cPanel that would bend over backwards to help.

  38. As they are censored, not really possible for us to answer if they are for less technical people. However, unless those cloud services offer application specific instances, like wordpress instances, you would still need to install all the supporting software and manage it as a regular server. If it is just application specific instances that you want to host and you can do it through this platform, then go for it as long as you do research on them and them being censored isn't a good sign IMO. You should not need cpanel if you're doing specific applications through them.

  42. Why did it get censored in the first place?
  43. If all of the 10 sites are yours personally and you are willing to learn or can manage a server, then you can go for free control panel like ISPConfig.
  44. If it is for business, then cPanel is what I recommend.
