If you have one PC, no tablet, no smartphone, no spouse, and no children, McAfee's $80 LiveSafe isn't your best value in online protection. If, by contrast, you have a bunch of smart devices and a bunch of people in your home who have the same, you're a lot closer to what passes for normal nowadays, and LiveSafe is a steal: It provides security for every PC, Mac, and Android tablet or phone in your household, with an online dashboard or console for managing all your devices.

Protection ranges from antivirus and antispyware to antitheft device lock for handhelds and remote data wipe and location/tracking service for handhelds and some laptops. Two other features work with iOS as well as Windows, OS X, and Android: SafeKey, which stores usernames and passwords across all your devices, and Personal Locker, which combines PIN, voice, and face recognition for super-secure cloud storage of vital documents.
