Lil Wayne Tweets About Retiring After Police Called to His Miami Home What’s going on, Weezy? Lil Wayne caused his fans to panic in the early hours of Saturday, September 3, when he tweeted that he was retiring, shortly after police were called to his Miami home
“I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fans but I’m dun,” he tweeted, tossing his followers into a tizzy.
On Friday afternoon, Miami police were called to his home following reports of a shooting. ABC 10 later reported that it was a hoax call, the second time it has happened in almost 18 months. It’s unclear whether the tweet was directly related to the incident, or if other factors were at play. At present, the “Lollipop” hitmaker is at odds with his label, Cash Money Records, most notably over the much-delayed release of his 12th studio album, Tha Carter V.
Several hours later, the 33-year-old rapper hopped onto Twitter to somewhat clarify his previous tweet: “Ain’t lookin for sympathy, just serenity.” When fans and fellow performers, including Missy Elliott and Chance the Rapper, continued to flood his account with exclamations and pleas for him not to retire, Lil Wayne took it upon himself to ease everyone’s worries. “I’m good y’all don’t trip,” he tweeted simply.
