The Attack
Grayson stared intently at the city built under the T as if his parents would appear if he looked hard enough.
Aly looked down at the T “So, That’s probably a command tower, right? Shouldn’t we see what’s in there?”
Grayson looked down at the command tower. “Well, I don’t see any entrances.” He looked at Aly. “But that’s actually a good place to start! But still how do we get in… you got any ideas?”
Aly’s face brightened. She ran into the Skyhawk, and came out with a certain black briefcase. And wearing the power armor. Along with safety goggles
She unclasped the sides.
“Wait, are you going to-” Grayson started,
Aly chucked a Ion Detonator over Grayson’s head.
It magnetically connected to the top of the command tower and beeped ominously.
Grayson covered his face, and the detonator exploded in a burst of white light. The shockwave knocked Grayson and Aly over.
“Ouch.” Grayson said from on his back.
“That. Was. Awesome!” Aly said, helping Grayson to his feet “Look! It even made a hole!”
“You weren’t trying to make a hole?”
“Nope! Well I mean yeah of course. What’s the point of testing a grenade when it doesn’t make a hole?”
Grayson walked over to the hole. “That’s… not a very big hole.”
The ground was a slightly smoking and charred around the hole.
“I think we can fit!” Aly said, then splashed some water on the smoking area to cool it down.
“We need to prepare.” Grayson said firmly.
She hesitated “Fine.” Aly harrumphed “But i’m taking the grenades”
A few minutes later Aly and Grayson were ready. They had put on the armour and taken their weapons. Aly hopped happily into the ship
“Uh, Maybe you should grab a couple flashlights” Aly said from in the ship.
“Just use the one on your gun”
“Oh”
He followed Aly into the ship.
“Wow!” Grayson said “It’s dark!” He turned on the build in flashlight. He scanned the room. It seemed to be some kind of captain’s cabin, but it was rusty, and dusty, and old. There was a crooked poster on the wall. The bed was made, and there was a radio on the floor. Grayson picked the small radio, and turned it on. beep beep beep be-bleeeep bleep bleep- Please stand by - beep beep, went the radio. Grayson turned it off.
“Should we go deeper?” Aly said, pointing towards a door.
Aly kicked it, and the moldy FauxWood smashed.
“Ok.” Grayson said “Farther in it is!” He followed Aly through the hole, and they came to three doors. One was thick and steel, the other two wooden. Grayson, nervous that aly was going to use another grenade on the steel door, went through the middle wood one. Sighing, Aly followed.
Grayson opened the door carefully, his gloves scraping against the rusted handle. He pushed and the door flopped to the floor. This new room seemed to be the bridge. The command room stretched across the whole T area, and there were thick clear windows. Grayson was amazed at the amount of chairs and controls and buttons and knobs. There were some purple leaves poking out of some places, but some of the buttons were lit up. The tiles on the floor were scattered about, and he could see a hole in the center. There seemed to be a ship landing area below.
“Hey Grayson! Look at this!” She pointed to a switch that said “Command Tower Landing Bay doors” “I’ll press it!” Aly then pressed the button
Grayson looked through the hole, and he saw sunlight gradually filter into the command tower as the doors opened below.
“Oooh! Cool!”
“Hmm, I think if I can find the main breaker I can reboot the whole ship! ”
After a couple minutes of searching, they found it. “Found it!” Said Aly from the center of the command bridge.
Aly flipped it and a loud crack was heard. Lights flickered on in the whole bridge, (One flickered wildly, but stayed on.) Grayson looked over at the rest of the ship. The lights didn’t seem to be turning on there
Then Grayson and Aly heard something else.
A huge crack was heard. And then a kind of “Click Click Clack”
“Uh oh” said Aly.
Aly heard something slapping against the heavy steel door. Something taking hold of the heavy metal door and tearing at it. Aly and Grayson looked at each other.
“Whoops” Said Aly, “ … Maybe we should get out of here … ”
“Oh, Right!” Grayson said, looking away from the door “We should-”
Grayson was cut off, as something smashed against the door
Grayson backed off towards the hole in the ceiling, he started climbing up.
“Wait!” Aly said,”I want to see what’s behind the door! What if it’s a person?”
Grayson paused, “No! We have to get out! More importantly, what if it isn’t a person?” Grayson kept climbing.
With a wrenching sound, the door buckled inward. There was another smash, as heavy door was flung through the opposite wall and out the window. Aly watched it as it sailed down into the city
Six tentacles pushed their way through the door. The tentacles had no suckers, but just an armored bulb at the end of each tentacle. Aly froze. A creature came out of the door. A snakelike creature, with a triangular head with no mouth. and of course, the tentacles, came out of the doorway. It had segmented short legs, like a centepede. But at the bottom of the leggs there was a sword shaped covering on each of the legs. It had a kind of natural armor, that covered most of it’s snakelike body. It had an especially armored front part, and the six tentacles waved around hypnotically. It’s completely red eyes, with black slits watched their every move.
“Aly! Come on!” Grayson yelled.
Then the creature’s bulb’s slowly opened. There were teeth ringing the “Petals,” And the creature advanced
Aly couldn’t move. She was terrified. It slowly slithered closer. There was a loud blast, and a bolt of green light sliced into the creature’s head, below the armored triangle on it’s head. and It’s glowing red eyes dimmed.
It closed it’s eyes, and the multiple tentacles twitched on the ground. The creature let out a low mournful noise, and then the eyes slowly closed.
“C-c-come on” Grayson said holding the pulse rifle in one hand, ”L-l-l-let’s get out of here“
Aly held out her hand, and Grayson shakily pulled her up. Together they walked towards the ship.
Without either of them noticing, another of the creatures was behind them. It’s tail was longer than the other. And it had head frilles like an amphibian. It’s claws were closed, and it had only soft“armor”. It made virtually no sound. Instead of the dirty brown of the armored one, it was almost smooth, and shiny, and green
It’s soft bulbs slipped across the ground. Then Aly turned around. It hissed, and moved surprisingly fast, it’s six tentacles and it’s centipede legs working in sync, and it’s tail swishing behind it. Aly tossed a Ion detonator as she ran.
“Grayson! There’s another one!” She yelled to Grayson, who was already in the front seat of the ship.
Multiple of the shelled types were climbing out of the hole, except they had big armored humps, and lot’s of extra legs. They followed the flexible green one. The Ion detonator exploded. It sent some of the shelled one’s rolling. The green one jumped, and caught Aly at an angle, sending her rolling towards the edge of the T. She wildly fired her blaster, shearing off a tentacle. It sent the creature skidding off the edge. It somehow managed to get a tentacle on the roof, and hung there by one tentacle. Aly sprinted towards the ship, already taking off.
“Aly! Hurry up!” Grayson yelled, sticking his head out the door.
Then Aly tripped. Aly went sprawling to the ground. She felt something wrap around her ankle, and drag her across the floor towards the edge. The green creature had caught her around the foot, with and incredibly long tongue. Aly smacked it, and It the tongue retreated into it’s mouth. The other five and a half tentacles rose up and over the edge. They gripped Aly’s leg. And slowly, slowly dragged her towards the edge
