Does anybody have this antenna mod and can give me some feedback on your thoughts about this setup that I'm planning. What is included in this kit: 1 u.
I also did a lot of research and comparison and this is what I decided to get. Thank goodness I still have my DJI Phantom 2 that has been running two years with no problems.
Hope this helps out. Thank God for Amazon. Adding a repeater is adding another failure mode, and that's something I like to avoid same reason I'm not adding caballeros. From the authorities point of view they cannot afford you Not to have control so understatement is the order of the day. The reason for this mod is to relocate the internal antenna located in the body of the Q500+ to the underside of the el of the Q500+ for better reception. Now that the wifi signal is boosted with this mod, reception should be constant. I'm looking into extending the range of my Q and have been looking at the DBS mod by Itelite and I was curious if I could even piece more range by maybe hooking up the antennas 2. I'll try to post my results when I finish the mod. And so am I; I just want to make sure I do it right the first time. I also did a lot of research and comparison and this is what I yuneec q500 basic antenna kit to get. Here are the links that I've come up with. You have to be careful when choosing antennas; there is a science behind antennas; they all may look the same but they may not perform the same this guy seem to know what he's doing and his custodes have been tested.
Antenna Kits - Just got my basic kit in the mail yesterday and plan to install it this coming week.
The reason for this mod is to relocate the internal antenna located in the body of the Q500+ to the underside of the body of the Q500+ for better reception. Once you have the Body apart carefully unplug the gps cable inside, It will be obvious, there is only 1 cable to unplug. Next locate the receiver on in the body as shown in the photo below, take an exacto knife or razor and slit open the protective plastic of the receiver indicated by the red arrow on the photo. Unplug that antenna lead and tape it so it will not come in contact with any electronics, then tuck it in under something out of the way. Next, plug in your new antenna pigtail, but before plugging in the pigtail route the cable in thru one of the landing gear holes where the leg attached to the Q500. If you plan on attaching your antenna with an l bracket to the underside, now may be a good time to locate it and drill any holes if you plan on using a nut and bolt type of connection, Some people use epoxy glue rather than a nut and bolt. Click Photo for a larger View While you have your Q500 apart choose where and how you want to mount your antennas to the underside. It will prevent you from having to take her apart again if you choose to Mod her again. I placed my brackets as seen in the photo, some people drill straight thru in that area and do not use a 90 degree connection, I chose to place brackets and 90 degree connections for my set up. There are also proper Antenna mount brackets available that are made from 3D Printed materials that help reduce interference. Using metal brackets can often reduce performance. The Printed Antenna Mounts can be found here:.
