I would like to share some of my opinion about the target market, the ideal users, of this laptop; my needs for the laptop before I bought; my analysis of the performance and talk about the laptops criteria. This laptop is well using so far and does not have any big problem so far. Its color is Black Aluminum; the screen is 15. So this laptop, generally, is good for most of us who just needs a laptop for daily use. Moreover, since this laptop is a gaming laptop, the idea users for this laptop are people who like to watch movies or play video games. Desire criteria At the beginning, I would like to choose a laptop to use in my daily life. Generally, I would like to use it for watching movies, playing games and being a convenience for me to using Word document and PowerPoint. So I established some of the criteria in order to choose the ideal laptop. First of all, it should be at least Intel Core i7 so that it is enough for gaming. And 15 inches screen for movies and games that could please my eyes. In other words, users could feel comfortable while using this kind of laptop, so this kind of feature meets the needs of users who like to watch movies or playing video games. Besides, this laptop has plenty of other good characteristics. It is fast enough for loading all the games and big enough for storing them. Moreover, the 5 hours battery life is stable for half of the working day. Nevertheless, the disadvantage of this laptop is that the weight is a little bit heavier than some of the other laptop, so it could be harder to carry it. The start up nvidia geforce 840m went from about a minute to about 6 seconds. My friends couldn't believe how fast my laptop is. This model and the newer replacement are true powerhouses once you ditch the standard disc type hard drive for solid state. The build quality of this laptop is pretty solid, even though it's not metal construction it feels well put together. I prefer using my wireless mouse over the factory mouse pad since it tends to be glitchy and difficult to use sometimes. Also try not to put your fingers on the top of the laptop since you'll get fingerprints all over. The screen could be brighter but is sharp and accurate in color reproduction. Battery life is solid 3 hours on max performance mode which is on par with most laptops without an extended battery. Also this laptop ran smoother and faster once I upgraded to windows 10. Pros: It's a laptop that turns on. Cons: slow response keyboard, windows 8, screen color quality sucks. Other Thoughts: Supposed to be quad-core, 8gb ram, 840m etc. Feels like an old emachine. The parts in this do not live up to the spec. Don't go by these other reviews. If you want a decent multi purpose laptop, this is not the one. Pros: Sound quality is amazing. I have never heard such quality sound from a portable device. The screen is nice and has not had any issues after about a year. Screen has a optimum vertical angle which can be annoying to adjust at times, but I haven't owned many laptops so this may be normal. It can be nice if you want to adjust the contrast with a simple bend. Keyboard could be a little better. My z key comes unhooked about once a month. Other Thoughts: Unless you are looking to for a laptop that you will casually play games with you probably need to go with a laptop with a lesser processor. Sure this has 8 cores hyperthreaded, but an I5 could be clocked faster and be more responsive for nvidia geforce 840m, less intensive processes. I do play lots of the newest games, but I did not buy this laptop for gaming, although L4D2 plays pretty flawlessly. I have no doubt that streaming Steam from my desktop will be smooth though. I had originally purchased a Lenovo G510 as they were pretty inexpensive at the time, but I am glad I sent it back and spent a little more on this machine. The sound quality is amazing. I have been dabbling in music for the past 17 years or so and I have developed quite an ear for sound quality and with the sub-speaker plugged in I was blown away at the range that this system can produce with such a small set of speakers. I honestly can't say enough about the sound system. I didn't even have to use an equalizer when listening to music. The processor is great, but don't expect it to be as snappy as a desktop system unless your desktop is pre-built. I ran the test twice just to make sure none of the parts would fail and it nvidia geforce 840m runs smooth as butter. I noticed that the processor stays around 3. The screen may have a 150 degree viewing angle from the horizontal, but the vertical doesn't have such a good range. For someone looking at getting a new mid-level laptop with a 4th gen Intel i7 processor, this one is probably your best bet. They are my favorite tech company at the moment. Doesn't overheat like my old laptop though it does blow hot air out the left side, easily remedied with a cooling pad. Has a beautiful, smooth screen. Heard some complaints about the keyboard but I love it. Cons: When the charger is plugged in, you can literally feel a current of electricity running through the laptop. If my hand rests anywhere on nvidia geforce 840m laptop, and I make physical contact with anyone, both parties get a small shock. All in all, not a big enough problem to me to waste time worrying or complaining. Just don't touch me when I'm gaming ; Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend it.
