Hi, I'm running Windows 10 64-bit and the latest version of Kontakt 5. Kontakt 5 works fine in standalone but the VST is constantly crashing my host, FL Studio. I recently downloaded a trial version of Reaper to see if Kontakt was more stable there but it also crashes intermitently. The crash occurs when minimising or closing the Kontakt window inside the host - especially when a sound is still playing or decaying. I've tried all the usuals... I also ran the Native Instruments 'VST Tool' and got all of my plugins in the same directories. So now after weeks of searching, trying and failing, I'm thinking about reinstalling it - but I've heard nightmare scenarios about residual registry files interfering with reinstalls and things like that. I am also quite freaked out about reinstalling Komplete 9 all over again and all the potential new issues that could arise from doing so.. I wonder if a Kontakt update is just around the corner. Maybe I should hold out? I have followed the instructions and uninstalled Kontakt via the Komplete 9 uninstaller. Do I start the process through the Service Center or go back to the DVD disc included with my Komplete 9 bundle. Note: I didn't uninstall the Factory Selection, Factory Library or any of the other libraries. It's not there, but yes I did get Kontakt via a Komplete license. Opening Service Center it says that everything is activated and nothing new is available... I can't see anyway to download it in Service Center and it hasn't appeared in the My Products section of my account login. Install old Kontakt version from the Komplete 9 disc? Is that even possible... I guess I should try the first DVD installer disc and hope for the best... I really don't feel like shelling out full price for a separate Kontakt license if I'm entitled to it in my Komplete bundle. OK I reinstalled the old Kontakt 5 using the 1st Komplete installation DVD. It brought up a menu asking what I wanted to install and I deactivated everything except Kontakt 5. After install it then launched Service Center where it authorised itself and then searched and found an update. I downloaded and installed that update via Service Center. I then ran the Kontakt standalone to see if all was well - looks good. Let's see if it still crashes under normal use. I'll be in touch. Damn - after the reinstall it's still crashing in the same way randomly locks up when closing or minimising the Kontakt wrapper. Perhaps one of my libraries is corrupt? However I tried Reaper and the same thing happened - this lead me to believe Kontakt is infact the culprit, which pushed me to reinstall it. But I think I may have actually fixed this issue. What happened: I was googling Kontakt crashes and I stumbled upon this thread... Right click on the exe file and select run as administrator. On a couple of programs I had to uninstall the program then reinstall it but before running it for the first time like I did the above. If you are still having problems you might try it. I'm not sure that it will work on VSTis but running the exe file first as an administrator may help.
