Upgraded my iPhone X to ios12 and don't have Waze in Apple CarPlay. ios 12 waze The app developers are updating their apps. Waze in in Beta with theirs. The only thing i wish i could do is click on the alternative routes to reroute using them like on the phone. On CarPlay you have to click the arrow button and then go through the routes to see the time difference. Looks like i can put my iPhone vent mount into the glovebox. Even though Google was found to be quick, it was Apple Maps that turned out to be the most accurate. Apple Maps gave 8-percent longer trip times but overall, compared to Google, Grabowski usually arrived 1-percent faster than estimated. So Apple users will always be pleasantly surprised on their trips, or at least rarely be late for a meeting. Google Maps, even though it won out in the app race, was not always on the mark. In general, Grabowski found it was 2-percent slower than its average estimated trip time on average. Not far off in terms of accuracy, but less accurate nonetheless. Google maps is pretty good, but Waze is more aggressive about routing around traffic. I usually beat the Waze estimate by 3-5 minutes if I drive aggressively. Maybe if you live in San Francisco it's good but in Toronto it's been letdown after letdown. When i first got the car i really wanted to use CarPlay and it keep taking me on silly routes and a few times didn't even get the address right, just embarrassing. I find Waze a bit too aggressive with rerouting, going on alleys, and i'm not a fan of their interface, but when it comes out of beta i'll give it another shot just to compare. Google may snoop on my data but at least it gets me to my destination quickly. If Apple Maps was 80% as good i'd use it, but it's not even close.
