normally i sample the whole drumkit, this time ive used overheads for cymbals. i was hoping i could brickwall and eq the snare and toms out of my OH so that i could easily quantize my toms for tight drums. But of course that doesnt work , i got still to much tom/snare in my OH. i think the only solution is to group my drums and edit the group, but how do i fill in the gaps that are created in the OH by for instance moving the snare?
You've got to trim the regions to fill gaps and then crossfade.
Spot mic the cymbals pointed away from the shells and that should help
