Make an account, and link a major credit or debit card. You don't have to spend anything on the card for this offer to work, but you can choose 5 retailers and get automatic points whenever you spend any amount at those stores/websites. You know the drill.
You can do a few tasks within the app to get points if you want, but the main goal is to find and activate the Wealthsimple offer – it should show up on the main DISCOVER screen under "Your offers" as a one-time offer for 75,000 points. 1,000 points per dollar in rewards = $75.00. Offer terms are that you create a Wealthsimple investment account through their offer link, and fund the account. I put in just $5.00 and it worked.
Create the Wealthsimple account and choose what type: regular, traditional IRA, Roth IRA, etc…. Once you e-sign the forms, link a bank account (ACH handshake, takes a couple days) and make your first deposit you'll see a credit in your Drop account a day or two later for 75,000 points. I was floored when this went through, I thought it was a mistake. Under the Rewards tab you can pick what gift cards you'd like; Amazon credit was nearly instant for me. I redeemed $40 then $30 and I got a total of 7 emails with a $10 code each.
