  1. Not only is breast feeding an adopted baby easy,
  2. the chances are that you will produce a large
  3. amount of milk. It isn't complicated to do,
  4. although it is different than breast feeding a
  5. baby you have been pregnant with for 9 months.
  6. Breast feeding and milk
  7. There are two objectives that are involved in
  8. breast feeding an adopted baby. The first is
  9. getting your baby to breast feed, and the other
  10. is producing enough breast milk.
  11. There is more to breast feeding than just milk,
  12. which is why many mothers are happy to feed
  13. without expecting to produce milk in the way
  14. the baby needs. It's the closeness and the
  15. bond breast feeding provides that many mothers
  16. look for.
  17. Taking the breast
  18. Even though many feel the early introduction of
  19. bottles may interfere with breast feeding, the
  20. early introduction of artificial nipples can
  21. interfere a great deal. The sooner you can get
  22. the baby to the breast after birth, the better
  23. things will be.
  24. Babies will however, require the flow from the
  25. breast in order to stay attached and continue
  26. to suck, especially if they are used to getting
  27. flow from a bottle or other method of feeding.
  28. Producing breast milk
  29. As soon as you have an adopted baby in sight,
  30. contact a lactation clinic and start getting
  31. your milk supply ready. Keep in mind, you
  32. may never produce a full milk supply for your
  33. baby, although it may happen. You should
  34. never feel discouraged by what you may be
  35. pumping before the baby, as a pump is never
  36. quite as good at extracting milk as a baby
  37. who is well latched and sucking.
