Also better security from tracking but still preferring google results (if not logged in to google account): encrypted.google.com

(also, if concerned about security and privacy don't use Google Chrome, but Firefox with add-ons like Addblock (Plus), Ghostery, NoScript, HTTPsEverywhere, HTTPsfinder etc.). Tor is also option. You may want to think about VPN, proxy, or I2P for different purposes.
